Summer Time Trout Fishing

The Trout fishing on the Lower Sacramento Riverin the Redding area has been awesome the past month with about 30 hook ups a trip out. Most of the Wild Rainbow trout we have been catching are 12 to 24 inches long and weigh 1 lbs. to 6 lbs. they are all very hard fighting fish large or small . We practice catch and release on the Sac. A camera is a must have on every trip these trout are the most colorful fish . The Trout are on a good bite right now Fly fishermen are using small nymphs under a indicator. Bait fishermen are drifting worms or crickets. Plug fishermen are using hot shots or flat fish .
The department of fish and Game has decided to have a two part Salmon season this year with a 2 fish limit.
Upper Sacramento River open Oct.9th through Oct. 31st.
Middle Sacramento River open Oct9th. through Dec. 12th
The Sacramento River Salmon fishing this year might be good this year if all the predictions are right a lot of fish are being caught in the ocean and a lot of fish have been seen in the Feather river that will open to Salmon fishing on July 31st through August 29th.
