Salmon Summer 2016

Sacramento River Salmon fishing has not been good yet, But it was like this last year up until the last week of September then all of a sudden the Salmon fishing was great. The month of October will be a great time to catch a King Salmon on the Sac. River.
Trout fishing has been great all summer and is still very good drifting fly’s or pulling lures on the Sac. River. The water is about 55 degrees and a little murky about 5 foot visibility I think that made the fishing better this year. Normally the water is gin clear. We are averaging 15 to 20 trout an an outing with a couple 6 lbs. being caught.

Sacramento River Trout 8 - 2016

Sacramento River Trout fishing is great now. Yes it is hot out there but on the river is is a lot cooler and you can get wet in the 51 degree water any time. Drifting bait or trolling plugs has been producing 15 to 20 fish a trip, 1 to 5 lbs. What are they biting on. Fly’s, Plugs or Bugs. We practice catch and release on the Sacramento River for the Wild Rainbows.
Salmon fishing on the Sac. River should start getting good any time now. Pulling plugs or drifting Roe I am ready to go catch some big fish.

June 2016 Trout

Sacramento River Trout fishing is great now. Ralph and Ron fished with me Saturday and had a great trip catching and releasing about 10 wild Rainbow Trout and having about the same number of fish coming off the hook before they were landed. The Trout are very hard fighting and are acrobatic that can help them shake off the hook easy since we have to use barbless hooks. What are they biting on. Fly’s, Plugs or Bugs. We practice catch and release on the Sacramento River for the Wild Rainbows.

2016 May trout

Sacramento River Trout fishing is great now. The river is on the rise for the irrigation in the valley and that always makes the Trout fishing better. Trout fishing last week with Bruce and Dorthy produced about 20 Trout getting hooked and 10 Trout getting their picture taken all the fish were big about 4 lbs. and 16 inches long. On a 4 hour trip. What are they biting on. Fly’s, Plugs or Bugs. We practice catch and release on the Sacramento River for the Wild Rainbows. There are a few Shad starting to show up in the Red bluff area. Striper fishing in the Colusa area has slowed down a few of the Stripers have spawned out and are heading back to the delta.

Striper Fishing in April

Sacramento River Striper fishing is good NOW. Fished Saturday with Ethan, Tanner, Jake and Greg and landed about 20 Stripers the biggest one was 7 lbs. Everyone was able to take home a limit of fish. Trolling Jumbo Minnows down river worked good that day. Striper fishing should be good for the next 4 weeks. Trout fishing on the Sacramento river in Redding has been good also. Went out last week for a 4 hour trip and landed 10 big Wild Rainbows about 14 inches long, great trip in the evening. What are they biting on. Fly’s, Plugs or Bugs. We practice catch and release on the Sacramento River for the Wild Rainbows.

Dec. 2015 Steelhead fishing

Sacramento River Steelhead fishing has been good the past month. The last Salmon fishing trip of the season was great the weather was perfect and the river was in good shape but the Salmon didn’t want to bite but the Steehead were willing. We landed 6 Steehead that were about 20 inches long and a couple squaw fish that were 26 inches long. The Trout and Steelhead fishing is good year round on the Sac. River. The river can be to high and muddy at times in the winter with a lot of rain but since I fish the top end of the Sac. River. This section will clear up in a couple days after a big rain storm and we will be back out there catching fish. What are they biting on. Fly’s, Plugs or Bugs. We practice catch and release on the Sacramento River. A camera is a must have on every trip.
