Salmon, Trout fishing 8-10-2017

Sacramento River Trout fishing from Redding to Red Bluff has been awesome the past month with about 30 hookups a trip. Most of the Wild Rainbow trout we have been catching are 12 to 20 inches long and weigh 1 lbs. to 6 lbs. they are all very hard fighting fish large or small. We practice catch and release on the Sacramento River. A camera is a must have on every trip. The Trout and Steelhead are on a good bite right now Fly fishermen are using small nymphs under an indicator. Bait fishermen are drifting worms or crickets. Plug fishermen are using hot shots.

Salmon fishing season is under way now and should be picking up by the end of the month. as always with Salmon fishing early in the season, Not a lot of fish but very good quality of meat, later in the season a lot more Salmon but the quality of meat is down. Quality or Quantity what do you want. Book your trip early for the best available day.
